源為朝は、平安時代末期の武将で、源為義の八男として生まれました。彼は身長2メートルを超える巨漢で、強弓の使い手として知られています。矢一本で敵の軍船を沈めるなど、さまざまな伝説が語り継がれています。

若い頃から乱暴者で、13歳で九州に追放されましたが、そこで勢力を拡大し九州一帯を制覇し「鎮西八郎」と名乗りました。

保元の乱（1156年）では崇徳上皇側につき、圧倒的な弓の腕前で奮戦しましたが敗北し、伊豆大島へ流されました。その後、伊豆諸島を支配するも、追討を受けて自害したと伝えられています。また、琉球に渡り王朝の祖となったという伝説も残されています。

The Keikodô Gallery is proud to present this very rarely seen print by Utagawa Kuniyoshi, which depicts Chinzei Hachirô Tametomo (Minamoto no Tametomo, 1139-1170?) in Kyûshû, holding two arrows while maintaining his composure as he looks up at the thunder god Raijin, who appears from the clouds in the form of the typical three-comma shaped Mitsudomoe design, and beats a drum to create thunder and lightning bolts. Of the utmost rarity. Published by Sôshû-ya Yohei.

Minamoto no Tametomo was a military commander of the late Heian period, born as the eighth son of Minamoto no Tameyoshi. He was a giant of a man, over two metres tall, and was known as a very strong archer. Legend has it that he sank an enemy warship with a single arrow.

A violent man from his youth, he was banished to Kyûshû at the age of 13, where he expanded his power and conquered the whole of the island, taking the name ‘Chinzei Hachirô’.

During the Hôgen Rebellion (1156), he fought on the side of Emperor Sutoku with his overwhelming skill with the bow, but was defeated and exiled to Izu Oshima. He later ruled the Izu Islands, but is said to have committed suicide when he was attacked and cornered. Legend also has it that he travelled to Ryûkyû and became the founder of the Ryûkyû dynasty.

La Gallerie Keikodô est heureuse de présenter cette estampe très rare d'Utagawa Kuniyoshi, qui représente Chinzei Hachirô Tametomo (Minamoto no Tametomo, 1139-1170?) à Kyûshû, préparant deux flèches tout en gardant son calme tandis qu'il regarde le dieu du tonnerre Raijin, qui apparaît au milieu de nuages gris de la forme typique Mitsudomoe (motif en forme de trois virgules), et bat un tambour pour créer le tonnerre et envoyer des éclairs.

Minamoto no Tametomo était un commandant militaire de la fin de la période Heian, né le huitième fils de Minamoto no Tameyoshi. Géant de plus de deux mètres, et connu pour ses talents d'archer, la légende veut qu'il ait coulé un navire de guerre ennemi d'une seule flèche.

Homme violent depuis sa jeunesse, il fut banni à Kyûshû à l'âge de 13 ans, où il étendit son pouvoir et conquit l'ensemble de l'île, prenant le nom de « Chinzei Hachirô ».

Au cours de la rébellion de Hôgen (1156), il se rangea du côté de l'empereur Sutoku et combâtit activement grâce à sa grande habileté à l'arc, mais fut vaincu et exilé à Izu Oshima. Il régna ensuite sur les îles Izu, mais on dit qu'il s'y suicida, ayant été attaqué et acculé. La légende veut également qu'il se soit rendu dans l’archipel des Ryûkyû et qu'il soit devenu le fondateur de la dynastie Ryûkyû.
